Dr. Ghislaine Lewis completed her Ph.D. in Media and Communication at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Her dissertation was “Evolving Newspapers & the Shaping of an Extradition: Jamaica on the Cusp of Change.” It examined the political economy and civic agency of Jamaica’s daily newspapers and political parties as the island faced its first national crisis in thirty years. Her masters’ research focused on HIV AIDS education for persons with sensory disabilities.
Research interests include new media and democracy, media and culture, diaspora studies and disabilities, gender and sexuality.
